RPS Enrolment Scheme

Section 11 of the Education Act 1989 requires schools that could face overcrowding to adopt enrolment schemes which govern conditions for enrolment.

  • Home Zone: the geographic area described below shall operate as the school's home zone, under Section 11D of the Education Act 1989. All students living in the home zone are entitled to enroll at the school at any time.
  • Out of Zone Enrolments: applications will be processed in the following order of priority:

    1. First Priority - is not applicable because this school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary as stated in the Education Amendment Act 2000 issued by the Ministry of Education.
    2. Second Priority - will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
    3. Third Priority - will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
    4. Fourth Priority – will be given to applicants who are children of former students.
    5. Fifth Priority - will be given to applicants who are children of board employees.
    6. Sixth Priority - will be given to all other applicants.
    If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G[1] of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.

RPS Fees & Donations

The Board of Trustees requests an annual donation to enable it to provide resources and facilities that Government funding does not cover. In 2010 the donation requested per student is $435 ($217.50 for the third and subsequent child currently enrolled at Remuera Primary).

In addition, an annual activity fee is payable by all students at the beginning of the year or on their first day of school. This fee covers stationery, class trips and activities, and sports trips; and varies dependent on the class level of the student.

The activity fees for 2012 are set out in the PDF document below. These are pro rata'd for students starting during the year.

All children are required to wear the school uniform. All items of uniform are available from the School Uniform Centre in the Upland Rd shops (details below).

RPS International Students

  • We welcome and enrol International Students at Remuera Primary School. We hold a Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students which enables us to enrol a number of students who are residing with their parent(s).
  • We have a specialist teacher who will assist with teaching English to non-English speaking students. When they commence at our school, each student will be assessed as to the level of English tuition required.
  • International students are generally integrated into the appropriate year level classes and become involved in all the day to day learning of that class. They will be withdrawn as necessary for extra tuition from our speciality English teacher (ESOL).
  • Students are required to wear our school uniform while they attend Remuera Primary School and must abide by our school rules.
  • Fee information is available from the school office.
