OR we teach?......
At RPS, the Restorative Practice (RP) model is embedded into the
way we help our students resolve conflicts. It is an intentional
strategy aimed at restoring and rebuilding relationships damaged
through conflict. It is particularly useful when helping the
children to resolve issues which happen during the break times.
The RP model encourages an engaged, collaborative approach to
conflict which helps the students to own their behaviour choices,
reflect upon how their behaviour has affected others and then
restore relationships.
There are various forms of RP conversation prompts our staff
follow when dealing with Junior, Middle and Senior School
students.
We do, however, adopt a 'zero-tolerance approach' to all
violence. Students who demonstrate gross misconduct or continued
disobedience towards staff or students will be dealt with according
to Ministry of Education guidelines which may result in stand downs
or suspensions. Our students are reminded to report all
forms of anti-social behaviour to their teacher (or the duty
teacher if it occurs during break time) as soon as it occurs so
that it can be dealt with immediately.

conversation prompts we use with the children or the Restorative
Practice Plan, do get in touch with me via email: kates@rps.school.nz
