Message from the Principal

Sensational news!

As you know, we have one of the most hard working PTAs in the country.  This incredible group of dedicated mums and dads work tirelessly to support our community, our teachers and of course our amazing students.  They give so freely of their time, and their work is very much appreciated by myself and our Board.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that the PTA has agreed to fund in its entirity, the astroturfing of the netball courts. This ambitious project will completely transform this area, and provide greatly enhanced play area for our students.

The completed space will house two netball courts, and a range of educational play spaces. We are now working closely with Tigerturf, to finalise plans and get the works underway.  We are hopeful of having this project completed by the end of this term.

I really want to acknowledge Nicola Davies, - our PTA Chair - her drive and passion, and willingness to work alongside the school in crafting projects to support our students, is much appreciated.  Please join with me in thanking our PTA for this incredible donation to our school.

Cultural Concert 2019

Cultural Concert 2019

Many children have signed up this for this years 'Cultural Concert' with Mrs Grant. Some of these children are already a part of a dance group outside school while others wish to teach something from their country of origin to another student or group of students.

The date for the performance is Thursday September 26th and the dress rehearsal will be Tuesday September the 24th. There will be two performances, one Junior before Break One and one Senior after Break One.

Many children who have signed up only have a group or an idea organised, but that's fine. Remember you don't have to be from that country to learn that act. You can learn from another student.

Performances run for 2-3minutes in length.

What can you get out of being involved in the Remuera Primary School Cultural Concert:

  • you find out about another culture
  • learn parts of a new language
  • represent your country
  • perform in front of an audience
  • have awesome fun!

If you have missed the 'Cultural Concert' sign ups please don't worry you can still contact Mrs Grant or come and see her before or after school. Her email is: nikkig@rps.school.nz

We are looking forward to the new dance, martial arts and singing acts for 2019's 'Remuera Primary School Cultural concert!'

Family Movie Night was AWESOME!

Family Movie Night was AWESOME!

WOW! What a great turnout we had at our first RPS Family Movie Night. The hall looked like a giant sleepover with bean bags, cushions, blankets, pjs and onesies galore.

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported this new event.

And a huge thank you to the team of helpers that worked so hard on the night.

College Rifles Touch Rugby 2019 - 2020

College Rifles Touch Rugby 2019 -2020

Hard to believe, but registrations for touch rugby are open already!!

Summer touch rugby is played on Friday nights at the College Rifles club on Haast Street in Remuera, and has always been very popular.

RPS has registered touch teams for the following dates:

25th October - 13th December 2019 (8 Weeks)

14th February - 13th March 2020 (5 Weeks)

Year 1 & 2  play 5.30pm to 6pm

Year 3 & 4  play 6pm to 6.30pm

Year 5 & 6  play 6.30pm to 7pm

Please note children can play up a grade, but cannot play down a grade. Therefore if you have a group of kids who are for example year 4 and 5 who want to play together, they will need to enter the year 5 & 6 grade.

The year refers to the school year group your child is in for 2019.  The children stays in this year grade into the second half of the competition in early 2020.

The cost is $65.00 per player.

Payment is to be made by direct credit to Remuera Sport 12-3030-0619887-00 at time of registration.

Don't miss out! We will close off registrations on Friday September 6th. Please be aware that spaces fill quickly and can only be confirmed on a "first paid, first confirmed" basis.

If you would like to register your child please email Tara and Jo at rpsrugby@gmail.com

Please include the following information:

- School Year in 2019: e.g.Year 5

Also, please let us know if you have any specific 'friend requests' and we will do our best to accommodate these, but please understand that there are no guarantees!

Finally, we always need keen (or not so keen!) parents to coach.  If you can coach or co-coach please do let us know as without parental assistance the children will not be able to play.
