Farewell to Departing Staff

As the year draws to a close, it's appropriate for us to recognise those members of the teaching staff that will not be returning in 2019. As a school we have been blessed with an awesome staff who - collectively, contribute richly to the learning experiences of every child at RPS.

Teaching today - as you know, requires staff to invest enormously.  As well as planning incredible lessons for our students, they also give so freely of their time outside of the classroom.  Be it coaching a team, leading a music group or providing support to those students who require an extra boost.

Remuera Primary School has been fortunate in recent years to have maintained a relatively low staff turnover, but this year we bid farewell to four teachers. More formal farewells will be provided to these staff at a later date, but I wanted to acknoweldge these teachers for their incredible commitment and drive to support our students.

Please join me in acknowledging and farewelling the following teachers;

  • Kristin Inglis, who has won a position at St Cuthbert's College
  • Rosie Oliver, who has won a promotion to Edendale School
  • Karen Kam, who will embark on her Masters Degree
  • Tessa Adamson, who is relocating with her fiancee to Mt Maunganui

I would also like to annouce that Mark Hassall has been granted leave by the Board of Trustees.  Mark will spend Term 1 & Term 2 travelling and enjoying some well deserved R & R, before returning to his Deputry Principal role in Term 3.

To each of our departing teachers - including our staff on "fixed term" contracts concluding in December, I thank each of you for your amazing work with our children. You have each left your mark on Remuera Primary School and we are indeed richer for the talent, enthusiasm and professionalism you have brought to our school.

I wish you all a safe holiday, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

End of the 2018 School Year

School ends for the 2018 school year tomorrow Wednesday 19th December at 12pm. Please remember to pick your children up at 12pm.

We wish you all a very safe and happy holiday.

A message from the PTA

Dear RPS families,

The PTA are very excited to announce the establishment of PTA Liaisons in 2019.

We would like to thank Steve King, and the RPS Board, for supporting this initiative.

The PTA Liaisons will be a class parent/caregiver and will be responsible for:

-Communicating PTA events and news to their classroom via email.

- Organise the occasional Class Parent/Caregiver coffee or drinks catch ups. Enabling parents to meet and talk without the hustle and bustle of school drop offs/picks ups.

- Work with the school to welcome and support new families into our RPS community.

- Organise the end of year Class Teacher Gift and liaise with teacher on an end of year class event.

There may also be other class events you would like to suggest to the PTA Liaisons Leader.

The PTA Liaison communication to the class will consist of the PTA newsletter (new to RPS 2019), at the start of each term, as well as any other communication directed out from the PTA Liaisons Leader. Approx 2-3 emails per term.

We look forward to hearing from any parent/caregiver who would like to be considered for the role of PTA Liaison in 2019 at: rps_pta@outlook.co.nz

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you, our RPS community, for your support and enthusiasm towards the PTA events that have been run in 2018.

Wishing you all safe and very happy holidays.

Many thanks and Merry Christmas

Your PTA
