Term Three Electives

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Next term all students across the school will be taking part in an Electives Programme. This is an exciting initiative running in many schools whereby the students are able to choose a learning path based on their interests and passions across a range of curriculum areas.  The electives will run from 11:40am to 1:25pm each week for eight weeks.

Today, you will be emailed a link to the Electives.  Please note that there is a separate link for Year 1 & 2, Year 3 & 4, and Year 5 & 6. Each link lists the Electives available.  It is an exciting list and we know that the children are going to have a hard time with their top choices! Please read through the options with your child and discuss which elective would be best for them. Then indicate on the "Application Details" sheet their top three options in order of preference. Once these have been selected, could both you and your child please sign the sheet and return it to your child's class teacher.  The teachers will then be placing the children into an elective group based on their selection.  They will be placed in one of their three options - please be aware that it is not always possible to give children their first choice.

Whittaker's Chocolate Fundraiser

Thank you again for the awesome energy and effort that you, our school community, has put into this fundraiser so far. You guys rock!!

We are sure you will appreciate as there is now only 2 weeks left until the end of term we are wanting to finalise all details of this fundrasier as quickly as possible after the close date. We know the children are excited to find out which class has sold the most chocolate as well as the individual student winners. To date only 60% of funds have been returned which as you will see leaves a significant amount of monies outstanding. Please can we ask if you have sold all your chocolate that you organise payment at your earliest.  If you have cash you can return the money to the Chocolate Station in the School Foyer which will be manned this afternoon from 2.45pm to 3.15pm, tomorrow Friday 22nd June and Monday 25th June from 8.30am to 9am and in the afternoon from 2.45pm to 3.15pm.  Alternatively you can make payment via Kindo.

For those of you still selling - Good luck and remember all money must be returned by Monday 25th of June!

Keep up the great work and thanks again for your support.

Rochelle & Nicola on behalf of the RPS  PTA

You can order sausages and mufti until 8:45am tomorrow morning on Kindo via the RPS Website. Click here.

VACANCY AVAILABLE (#savethesausagesizzle)

VACANCY AVAILABLE (#savethesausagesizzle)

Are you a team player? Do you love sausages? Do you love to sizzle?

If so - we are looking for a dynamic duo (you and a friend) to run the RPS sausage sizzle. This is a managerial position, with no former work experience required, no background check and no interview, the job is yours if you want it!

The sausage sizzle is a huge asset to RPS, it runs twice a term, and it would be a shame to see it liquidated. There is a strong team of fantastic parents who support the sausage sizzle management, which would make for an easy handover. Feel free to check the assets, question the equity, and peruse the balance sheets. (this is a voluntary role, but the joy you see on the children's faces is payment enough) PLEASE save our Sausage Sizzle!

email rpssizzlesisters@gmail.com if you are interested.

Writing from Year 1

I felt cold but I was still happy. It is fun feeling the weather. I saw the sun. It was bright and it lit the whole sky up!

Dropping and picking up your child to and from school

We have seen an increasing number of students dropped to school very early in the morning as well as being picked up very late at the end of the school day.  Our classrooms open at 8.30am and close at 3.15pm. Parents are responsible for their children outside of those hours, even if they are still on the school grounds.  If you need to drop your child off early and need to pick them up after 3pm Skids provide a Before and After School care on our School Hall. Details on their programme is in a separate article in this newsletter.

Caregiver and Emergency Contact details

It is critically important that we have your correct contact details on our student files. If you have changed your phone number/s in the last year, changed your address or place of work can you please email the changes to our Enrolment Officer Kim Roscoe to kimr@rps.school.nz

This is also an opportunity to make sure your Emergency Contact details are up to date.  Should your child have an accident at school or is sick and we are unable to contact parents, we need to have alternative contacts for these situations.
