Access to Learning Nov 2016

From the desk of our Sports Co-ordinator Ricky Bakker

We were super lucky to have a gorgeous sunny day for our Years 3-6 Athletics day which were held last Thursday 10th November.  It was hard work for some students running in the heat but they all did really well and should be proud of themselves. I was really impressed with the attitude of all the students on the day, there were some really close finishes in numerous events. I would like to extend a big thank you to our staff who helped make sure the day ran smoothly. The Year 5 and 6 students that made it into the zone team have been notified and are getting ready for competition which is on Tuesday the 22nd of November at the Mt Smart Athletics stadium. We wish them all the best at this event.

Police Vet Checks

Due to enactment of the Vulnerable Children's Act 2014, our Board of Trustees mandated last year that any parent intending to stay overnight on a school excursion, will need to be safety checked.  Our Board believes strongly that we need to be doing everything within our power to ensure the safety of our students, and it is for this reason all parents attending school camps or overnight stays (for example the overnight stay at Kelly Tarltons) will need to have a current Police vet check in order to be considered for parent help.

We will not be selecting parents for camp until early next year, but would encourage any parent who is considering putting their name forward, to begin the process of getting Police vetted. To do this, please contact Mary in the school office - maryf@rps.school.nz.  Of course if you already have a valid police vet (not more than 3 years old), then all you would need to do is produce a copy of this check.

Police Vets are valid for 3 years.

Checks must be submitted by 2nd December in order that they may be completed before the beginning of the 2017 school year.
