FAQs
Do I need to register/pay for my child to take part in the colour run?
Yes. This is a PTA fundraising event taking place after school. The aim is to raise money towards a canopy over the junior courts. On the day of the event, we will issue RPS Colour Run white t-shirts to all students that have registered and fundraised a minimum of $5 (this covers the cost of the white t-shirts and their coloured powder) and this is required to be worn for entry to the colour run.
If I have more than one child at RPS, can we make a household fundraising page instead?
Each student that will be participating in the colour run needs to register against their class and on their own fundraising page. This means their fundraising efforts are tallied with others in their class - to compete for the class prize. It also means each child has a chance to be in the draw for the spot prizes and will be issued their own t-shirt.
Can non-RPS siblings take part?
Yes! There will be a $5 entry fee (to be paid at the drinks marquee before the races begin) which will cover the cost of their RPS Colour Run white t-shirt, which is required for entry. The age of the sibling will determine which race they join.
What prizes are on offer?
There are lots of prizes! All prizes are listed here: https://remueraprimaryschoolcolourrun.raiseit.nz/fundraisingprizes
The prizes will be drawn on the live student news broadcast at school or at a school assembly. There may also be some other random spot prizes throughout the fundraising period!
What if my child wants to take part but doesn’t want to / can’t have coloured powder thrown on them?
Please let our team know via email (rps_pta@outlook.co.nz) so we know what year group race they will be in and let our volunteers know. We ask that you dress your child in a bright coloured t-shirt for the race and our volunteers on the powder station will then know not to throw powder on them.
What is the coloured powder made from / how safe is it?
All measures will be taken to ensure that this event is safe for all students. The colour powder (same as Holi powder) is made from 98% cornstarch and 2% food colouring, making it non-toxic, biodegradable and gluten-free. The powder will be aimed at the torso down. However, wind may cause the powder to protrude onto your child’s face or hair, so we do recommend that sunglasses or googles are worn (some sunglasses will be available for purchase). If you have any concerns - please reach out to our team and we can provide more information.
What should my child wear to the event?
We will be supplying RPS white t-shirts to all students participating. We suggest that dark or old shorts are worn.
Will all the students do the Colour run together?
We will have separate races for each year group, starting at 3pm sharp, and finishing around 4pm, depending on the number of participants and extra races. There may also be a chance to see your teachers run at the end!
Do I need to be at school at 3pm to supervise my child participating in the colour run or can I pick them up at 5pm?
Yes, all students participating in the colour run need to be supervised by a parent/guardian while participating in the colour run. This event is not being held during the school day and is being run by the PTA. The Skids team will be bringing down their participating students and supervising them.
What food/drink will be available at the colour run? Can I bring a picnic?
The event is being held on the Platina St reserve at the back of the school. You are welcome to bring a picnic, but there will also be a sausage sizzle, Mr Whippy, popcorn, fairy floss, drinks and waffles all available for purchase (cash only).
How do I share my child’s fundraising link with friends and family?
Once you have registered your child https://remueraprimaryschoolcolourrun.raiseit.nz/hub, click on ’my profile’ at the top right of the screen. Under the child’s profile photo and goal, there are a variety of options to share, the easiest is copying the link to clipboard and pasting it into an email to friends and family. Please reach out to the team if you have any issues with this.
Can I help out on the day of the colour run? How can I get involved?
Yes! We will need volunteers from each year for a number of different roles on the day - set up, assisting with the race (coloured powder & obstacles), assisting with food stalls, and pack down. Lots of people doing a little means we all can enjoy the event and get home quickly at the end. We will be sending out a list of roles in week 1 of next term and asking for volunteers so please keep an eye out for this.
I have a question that hasn’t been answered - who do I contact?
Please email the Colour Run team on rps_pta@outlook.co.nz
